The Encyclopaedia Judaica, 2d ed., covers all aspects of Jewish history, culture, and religion. (Authorized University of Delaware users only).

The print Index to Jewish Periodicals, in the Reference Room (Ref Z6367 .I5), is an index to many periodicals of Jewish interest and is an important resource for locating published articles.

RAMBI (Index of Articles on Jewish Studies) / Reshimat Ma’amarim Bi-Mada’e ha-Yahadut, freely available from the Jewish National and University Library in Jerusalem, provides indexing for multilingual magazines and journals relating to Jewish studies and may be searched in English and Hebrew.   Check this database for references to publications on the history of Jews in the United States and Canada.

• Historical Abstracts  
  Check this database for references to publications on the history of Jews in all parts of the world, except the United States and Canada, from 1450 to the present. Historical Abstracts includes article abstracts and bibliographical citations of books and dissertations.

• AccessUN
  Particularly useful for material on the Arab-Israeli conflict. It provides access to the latest two years of United Nations documents and publications; articles appearing in UN periodicals, as well as bilateral and multilateral treaties in the UN Treaty Series, are indexed. Older coverage is provided by Index to United Nations Documents and Publications.

• Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO)
  Particularly for Israel and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

• Index to United Nations Documents and Publications
  Particularly useful for material on the Arab-Israeli conflict. It provides access to current and retrospective United Nations documents and publications. Coverage of the most current two years is provided by AccessUN.

• Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts  
  Useful for Hebrew, Yiddish, and other Jewish languages. LLBA provides non-evaluative abstracts of articles from approximately 2,000 serials published worldwide, coverage of monographs, recent books, technical reports, occasional papers, enhanced dissertation listings from Dissertation Abstracts International, and bibliographic citations for book reviews that appear in journals abstracted for LLBA.

• MLA International Bibliography  
  Indexes published scholarly journals and books in literature, language, linguistics, and folklore.

• Ethnic NewsWatch
  Includes some dozen Jewish publications: Baltimore Jewish Times, Cleveland Jewish News, Forward, Inside, The Jewish Advocate, Jewish Bulletin, Jewish Exponent, Jewish Journal, Jewish News of Greater Phoenix, Jewish Press, Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Jewish Week, Lilith, MetroWest Jewish News, and Moment.

• LexisNexis Academic
  Includes some Jewish newspapers, including Baltimore Jewish Times, Chicago Jewish News, Deep South Jewish Voice, Indiana Jewish Post & Opinion, Jewish Bulletin of Northern California, Jewsweek, Kentucky Jewish Post & Opinion, National Jewish Post & Opinion, and New Mexico Jewish Link. To restrict your search to one of these publications, select “News,” then (in Step One) “General News,” and finally (in Step Two) “Ethnic News.” Select a publication off the Source List and then paste it into your search.

• London Times Index
  Provides complete indexing to The Times (London) newspaper from 1790 to 1980. (1790-1905 is available on the Internet, 1906-1980 is on CD-ROM.)

• New York Times
  Full page and article images with searchable full text of the New York Times, 1851-1999. There is no index. The New York Times is indexed by the print New York Times Index, in the Reference Room (Ref AI21 .N44). Current issues of the New York Times are also available in the Periodicals Room, Morris Library; older issues are available on microfilm (Microfilm S 4). A variant edition of the newspaper is available on the Internet as The New York Times on the Web.

• The Palestine Post (Internet Explorer only)
  Electronic edition of the Palestine Post (1932-1950), predecessor of the Jerusalem Post newspaper.

• ERIC [Cambridge Scientific Abstracts] or ERIC [EBSCOHost]
  Use this database to find materials on Jewish education. It provides references with summaries from education journals and documents (i.e., books, pamphlets, conference reports, symposia, studies, tests, etc.).

• ISI Citation Databases (Web of Science)  
  Includes Science Citation Index Expanded; Social Sciences Citation Index; and Arts & Humanities Citation Index.

• LexisNexis Academic
  Includes some magazines of Jewish interest, including Commentary Magazine, Reconstructionism Today, The Reconstructionist, and Tikkun. To restrict your search to one of these publications, select “News,” then (in Step One) “General News,” and finally (in Step Two) “Ethnic News.” Select a publication off the Source List and then paste it into your search.

• Periodicals Index Online  
  Indexes thousands of journals and magazines in the humanities and social sciences, from their first issues to 1995. Areas of coverage include Area Studies (Middle East) and Jewish Studies.

• Philosopher’s Index
  Provides indexing and abstracts from books and over 400 journals and related interdisciplinary fields. It does not include citations to privately published works, pamphlets, or book reviews. It is a major source of information in the areas of aesthetics, epistemology, ethics, logic, and metaphysics. It is also a rich source of material on the philosophy of various disciplines, such as education, history, law, religion, and science.

• Project MUSE
  Full text journals in the humanities, social sciences, and humanities, published by The Johns Hopkins University Press. Includes American Jewish History, Israel Studies, Jewish Social Studies, Modern Judaism, Prooftexts, and Shofar: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Jewish Studies.

• Readers’ Guide Retrospective  
  An index to some 250 popular journals and magazines. Coverage is 1890-1982.

• Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries
  Has recordings of diverse musical forms from around the world, including Jewish, Jewish-American, and Israeli artists.

• Sociological Abstracts  
  References and abstracts to journal articles in sociology and related disciplines.

• Academic OneFile
  Comprehensive database of more than 8,000 journals covering all subject areas. Most of the journals are in full text, available in HTML and PDF formats. Full-text journals of Jewish interest include Aleph: Historical Studies in Science & Judaism, American Jewish History, Biblical Archaeology Review, Commentary, European Judaism, Israel Studies, Jewish Social Studies, Journal of the American Oriental Society, Judaism: A Quarterly Journal of Jewish Life and Thought, Modern Judaism, Prooftexts: A Journal of Jewish Literary History, Shofar, Tikkun, and Women in Judaism.

• ProQuest Dissertations & Theses
  Online access to citations and abstracts for every title in the Dissertation Abstracts database. The database includes citations for materials ranging from the first U.S. dissertation, accepted in 1861, to those accepted as recently as last semester. Citations for dissertations published from 1980 forward also include 350-word abstracts, written by the author.

• WorldCat
  Contains cataloging records to more than 30 million items held at libraries around the world. It covers thousands of subjects and includes records for items dating as far back as 1000 A.D. It includes records for a range of materials including books, computer data files, computer programs, films, journals, magazines, manuscripts, musical scores, newspapers, slides, sound recordings, videotapes. WorldCat does not include individual articles, stories in journals, magazines, newspapers, or book chapters.
